I was using MyInfo 6 on WINE in Linux for many years. MyInfo 7 would not run properly in Linux, so I had to move it to a virtual machine installation of Windows 10. MyInfo 8 has the same problems as version 7 and will not run properly in Linux.
The problem appears to be the lack of support in WINE ...

Re: Suggestions for improved use in research environments
Thanks Telesto.
I am very much looking forward to the release of version 8.
I hope some of the QDA features, and cross platform compatibility will make an appearance.

Most of the features offered in other PIMs seem to be attempting, in beat-around-the-bush approach, to offer the ability to locate information based on:
words
themes of sentences, paragraphs, or entire pages/documents
and to be able to cross-link and search for this information.

Re: Suggestions for improved use in research environments
Hi Everyone,
I'm very pleased to hear that Petko will release MyInfo 8 in the next few months.
A survey was recently released asking us for our most-needed features.
For at least 5 years, I have been hoping that MyInfo would include the features (noted in my original post above):

Suggestions for improved use in research environments
I have used MyInfo for my personal projects and work since 2011. Recently I began to find it invaluable in my work as a research analyst and I have a number of suggestions for improvements.
1. Clarifying use of drag and drop vs “ATTACHMENTS” feature.
There’s some confusion about:
1. dragging ...

Re: MyInfo and Evernote
Hi Telesto,
Thanks for your input and advice. That sounds like a good workflow to convert my data.
But like you, I'm guessing that my MyInfo database has so many notes, nested hierarchies, that I'm guessing that exporting all of it would become an unbearable headache.

Re: MyInfo and Evernote
I would really like to see a way to export to markdown or html format so that I can get data out of MyInfo and into Trilium or Joplin.
Currently, there does not seem to be an easy way to do this. To me, MyInfo is the very best of the PIM tools (with MyBase a close second), but it no longer runs ...

Re: Native Linux version
Good points Telesto, thanks!
Undoubtedly, the best solution is a native Linux build.
A secondary solution will be a version that functions perfectly in WINE. I used MyInfo 6 in WINE in Linux for years and it ran perfectly. Quite ironically, MyInfo 7, design for ease of cross-platform deployment ...

Re: Native Linux version
Thanks Telesto,
I don't want to pester Petko too much about this.
I mainly hope to attract the attention of other Linux users or potential users to show there is a definite need and a market niche.

Hi!
I've been an avid user of MyInfo for many years now.
When version 7 was released, I enthusiastically bought a licence knowing that it was based on new cross-platform architecture.
While version 7 does work in WINE, it has many problems compared to version 6.

abiltiy to add keywords to sections of text
Hi!,
MyInfo 7 has some new powerful tools that I'm just beginning to explore.
However, there is one feature I've requested many times over the years:
ability to add keywords to sections of text

Re: A few questions on the ver. 7 and cross platform functionality
If MyInfo goes to a SaaS (software as a service) model for yearly rent, I will most definitely stop using it and move to MyBase which has had a powerful cross-platform client. Open source solutions are quite weak at the moment.
I am happy to pay for good software, but I greatly dislike the idea of ...

Very good discussion here on tags vs. hierarchical ordering in trees.
I have to reiterate again the suggestions I made several years ago. I feel these features would greatly improve user's ability to use MyInfo so sort and to find information and bring it closer to functioning as a qualitative ...

Re: Ribbon bar?
I too am not a fan of ribbon toolbars. I really can't understand exactly what type of advantage they are supposed to bring for the user of desktops systems. With ribbon menus, the menu items constantly change and I have to search endlessly for the function I want.
