I notice that the website is still advertising version 6 as being the current version and version 7 has only been released to a 'select few' customers.
Does this mean that we are now the beta test team ?

Re: hierarchical tags
Heirarchical Tags are indeed very useful. Or Categories and Subcategories in the ConnectedText parlance. You can simulate this by having another Topic which is called Categories, this holds all the categories and subcategories. In the other topics you just insert a wiki link [[category_name]] into t...

Re: What links to here?
Any idea when MyInfo 7 might be released ?
Just a ballpark figure.

Re: Repeating Reminders
I think the best user interface I have seen for repeating reminders is the one in Mozilla Thunderbird. In that program I can set a reminder to repeat two days after the last Thursday of every month (which is very useful). Mozilla Thunderbird is open source so you could look to see how they have achi...

Tag report
I tend to use tags a lot, the user interface for tags in MyInfo is better than in many programs. However it would be nice if the user could call up a dialog box which contained table with two columns, the first column would be a list a list of tags, the second column would be the number of documents...

Re: Two limitations of MyInfo
I don't tackle the second 'problem' I sidestep it.
The written notes which I take on my tablet are pasted into MyInfo documents as bitmaps. My eyes and brain do the OCR for me.

[added] Can't see the wood for the trees.
Sometimes the tree can become too big and unwieldy. To help with this it would be nice to have an option (a tickbox within the Options dialog) which would close other branches, it would close everything which was not necessary to be open to see the current document automatically. What this would do ...

Re: A few questions on the ver. 7 and cross platform functionality
As for microsoft service, I assume you mean microsoft office. Yes, I agree with you, if you don't regularly upgrade every 2-3 years, you'd better off pay for the perpetual license. It's nice that we can choose what model we prefer to pay. Yes I mean Microsoft Office 365. Where a lot of software dev...

Re: A few questions on the ver. 7 and cross platform functionality
I suppose some models of Software Rental are worse than others. With 'TheBrain' Technologies for instance if you stop paying then you can no longer use the cloud services and you no longer get updates but you are left with a working copy of the program as it was when your payments expired. Much wors...

Re: A few questions on the ver. 7 and cross platform functionality
I think 'Software as a Service' is a terrible idea! For software developers it is a good idea because it represents a continuous revenue stream but for customers renting software represents a continuous monetary drain. This is why I do not have the latest rental version of Microsoft Office and will ...

Re: Upgrade to version 7?
MyInfo 7 is a work in progress and there is no public roadmap at the moment, however these are the confirmed new features so far: * Instantaneous save and load of MyInfo files: the new version will use database-based instead of file-based information storage Might this mean that true clones (i.e. m...

Re: Error message - Failed to set data for "MyInfo.exe"
Just a suggestion, I haven't had this problem and so I haven't tried this so I don't know if this will work but it's worth a try. Whilst logged in on an administrator account go to the Program file for MyInfo. It's in a folder called Milenix in either C:\Program Files\ or C:\Program Files(x86)\ depe...
