Re: Changing landscape
@Telesto Let me answer you questions in reverse order. PROFESSION AND TYPES OF NOTES I am "retired" medical school professor and physician. Retired in quotes because I still volunteer teach and lecture to medical students. My professional notes originate from reading and interpreting medic...

Re: Changing landscape
Telesto,
Thank you for taking the time to post such a very thorough and clear response to my questions. I gain much from learning about how others store both their own notes and found information so I do appreciate reading about your approach.

Changing landscape
Changing landscape Over the past several years, I have been following the changing landscape of note-taking software programs. I am not a programmer nor a developer but I have needed a note-taking system in my profession. I have used a variety of such note-taking and note-storing programs. Most of t...

Re: Compacting a file
Jon, I agree with your observations and expectations. To illustrate, I conducted some experiments with trying to compact MyInfo 7 files: 1. My original file, db-1.mnb, is 3,936 KB in size. 2. I exported db1.mnb to a new MyInfo Notebook, db-2.mnb, which has a 3,944 KB size. 3. Using db2.mnb, I go to ...

Re: Calendar in MI 7
Daly, there is no current Calendar view that identifies notes according to date characteristics as there was in MyInfo 6. However, MyInfo 7 does allow you to create additional perspectives beyond a hierachical tree. These perspectives will list and filter notes according to attributes. There are alr...

Should linked MS Office files preview in the browser pane?
In MyInfo 7, when adding a Note based on the External Document template, I am given the option to "Browse for a file to link". According to the MyInfo 7 Help, I can insert the link and "use it to preview a linked file on your computer". My question: Once I have linked the file, s...

Re: MyInfo editor adds extra spaces
I do have Show Paragraph marks turned on in MS Word, but it’s not the paragraph mark that I am talking about. It’s the extra character that precedes it. I call that character a “space” because that single space also shows up at the start of blank line when I export to a TXT file and open it in a pla...

MyInfo editor adds extra spaces
When I write a note and enter a blank line (i.e. I hit keyboard Enter twice), there are no extra characters at the start of the blank line in the MyInfo 7 editor window. However, if I then copy or export that note text, an extra space appears at the start of each blank line. I can illustrate this by...

Re: Creating user attributes, forms and templates
Larry, I very much appreciate the clear explanations, logical steps and practical advice. You have been of great help. I had not realized that creating a new Category of attributes involved merely typing a new name into Category input box rather than selecting one of the existing default categories....

Creating user attributes, forms and templates
Having used Milenix MyInfo products for the past 12 years -- from version 4 through version 7, I can safely say that I am not proficient. I have used MyInfo knowledge bases in what I describe as a freeform manner. Using terminology that pertains to version 7, I work mainly with plain Notes. I also k...

Re: Cannot view PDF in internal browser
I don’t normally store PDFs in MyInfo 7 but I went ahead and tested your findings. I have the same issue that you just noted. It actually occurs in both v7.0.9(6797) and in v7.0.9(6799) (after I updated to the newest version of MyInfo 7.) The PDFs don’t appear in the browser either when I use “Impor...
