Google Chrome Browser

When copying and pasting from Google Chrome browser to MyInfo text editor, a random extra character (followed by a space) appears in the beginning of the copied fragment. These extra characters need to be removed manually after pasting each fragment. I realize that Google Chrome is probably not supp...

With the new features in version 4 MyInfo has taken a big leap forward. In version 5, backup/synchronization, custom attributes and indexing of attachments will be very useful. While web synchronization is useful for many users, an option to backup/synchronize on a local drive will be useful to all ...

Thank you Petko. I'll be looking forward to that option in the coming versions. Until then, to ensure that an encrypted topic won't show up at the start up, one can explicitly close the topic before exiting MyInfo.

Encryption with Portable Version

AES256 Strong encryption is a welcome feature in version 4. It complements the portable version for installing MyInfo on a USB stick without worries. I am assuming that both the content and the index are encrypted using strong encryption, and if the USB stick is lost, any encrypted topics, if protec...

MyInfo created index file for each topic, so they are multiple index files. ... when you close and save a topic, the index is saved in the topic file along all other topic data). That's good. From an encryption point of view, that makes it easy to secure the topic completely. As the index is stored...

Petko, It's good to know that industry standard strong encryption is coming soon to MyInfo. I'm sure many users will be looking forward to that :-) I did some testing with TrueCrypt. Saving/retrieving specific topics in a file-hosted TrueCrypt volume seems to work fine. On Windows, file-hosted volum...

Encryption

1. Has the encryption algorithm been upgraded in MyInfo 4? There was some discussion on this subject back in early 2006, but I'm not sure what, if any, has been done in this area. 2. If I maintain an encrypted partition on a USB drive, say by using TrueCrypt, are there any issues in running MyInfoPo...

That's a good idea.. Definitely a better implementation compared to the current situation in which the user must go outside MyInfo (into Windows Explorer) in order to complete a MyInfo function.

Thanks Petko..

Is there any downside to adding a File -> Save As Template option for topics?

Creating Templates

A Happy New Year to all at Milenix... A quick question about templates.. I've created a document template, and it is working nicely. To create a topic template, [the Help info says] create a new topic and insert the information you want it to contain. My question is: then what? If I need to manually...

Document Attributes Pane

The Attributes pane is a valuable addition to MyInfo 4, and it makes it truly easy to add and modify searchable information about documents (metadata). This feature is a staple of high-end document & knowledge management systems, and as such it takes MyInfo farther ahead as a powerful, flexible ...

Petko, on second thought, if you're concerned about making it a "visible feature" and then not supporting it fully (as would be the case if you add a new document type for outline ), I understand why you wouldn't want to create a new document type. Perhaps it can still be designed to apply...

Thank you Petko for your positive response. Implementing it per topic is still great because it allows the users to create and manage outlines within MyInfo - making use of MyInfo's PRIM functionalities and outline capabilities together. If it's per topic , the users will take one of the two alterna...

Petko, There is no question that a limit of 200 characters is reasonable for document-names. However, removing this limit and allowing word-wrap can open up the use of MyInfo to create and manage outline documents as part of one's personal reference information. I see it as a clever "side effec...
