Re: Link to specific place in document
Sounds like a bug to me. Petko, would you care to comment?

Re: Quick/wiki?
This is a new feature that works only in the beta. At any point in a document, type two left brackets -- [[ -- and that will produce a dropdown menu of the names of all the documents in the topic. When you select one of them, MyInfo will erase the two brackets and replace them with a link to the doc...

Re: Link to specific place in document
It's easy. Place the cursor in a document that you want to link to. Bring up the right-click menu and select "Copy link to this paragraph." Then go to another document and insert the link with control-v. At least that's how it works in 5.07. I noticed that that control-v doesn't insert the...

Re: Two Hints
Fred, I have done a simple experiment, and it appears to me that it is possible -- in a rough-and-ready sort of way -- to use a shared set of tags across two or more topics. This is what I did. I opened two topics in which I knew that I had used the same tag ("LC"). Then in the search box ...

Re: Two Hints
Fred, I agree with you that this forum is rather quiet. I assume there are many others like me who read all the posts, including yours, with much interest but are prepared to jump into the discussion only when some particular issue arises that catches their attention. So, in that spirit, let me resp...

Re: MyInfo 5.50 Beta feedback
Petko, when I try to drag and drop a document from one topic to another, I get an error message that something is not a valid date or time. I did this with two topics on the screen, tiled vertically. I dragged and dropped a document into the outline panel of the second topic. After I worked my way t...

Re: MyInfo 5.50 Beta feedback
Petko, I too continue to experiment with the beta, and so far I have not discovered any bugs. Can you perhaps give us an estimate of when the final version will be released? I think you hinted earlier that in the official release you might include additional buttons in the search panel to move throu...

Re: MyInfo 5.50 Beta feedback
Petko, I have been experimenting with the wiki links today: a very nice new feature. Clever.
But just one observation: the dropdown box that opens after typing [[ is so small that it's difficult to navigate with the slider. Could it perhaps be enlarged somewhat?

Re: MyInfo 5.50 Beta feedback
Petko, I downloaded the beta this afternoon, and I am much impressed by some of the new features -- in particular, the search and replace, the pop-up windows, and the improved handling of tags. Here are just a few initial observations. I installed the portable version so that it wouldn't conflict wi...

Re: Welcome to MI
Marcus, I used AskSam briefly during the early nineties, though I'm afraid I can't remember it well enough to offer any detailed advice on how to achieve the same results in MyInfo. But here are a few thoughts about using MI for academic writing. First, I maintain a very large bibliography of all my...

Re: MyInfo 5.50 Beta
Petko, I'd like to try out the beta. Am I correct in assuming that it does not overwrite 5.0 -- i.e., that I can have both versions installed on my computer?

Re: Welcome to MI
Fred, I'm not sure what I did to set off this eruption. (My initials, by the way, are WSP, not the more colorful WASP. And I would suggest, as gently as possible, that WSP is no more anonymous than FRED.) I try always to be be polite on discussion forums, and I'm sorry if I annoyed you with what I t...

paragraph styles
Poor Petko! Lately we've been blitzing him with scores of suggestions. Let me add one small comment of my own. Whenever I create a new topic in MyInfo, I use a couple of standard paragraph styles, and I find that I have to recreate them each time. I would much prefer to be offered the choice of impo...

Re: Specify parameter when hyperlinking to a file
We're straying a bit far from my original topic, but I was wondering why you use both Evernote and MyInfo. Just because of the things you wrote I stayed away from evernote. I have a long and complicated connection with Evernote. I fell in love with it when it was a Windows-only program but then bec...
