Re: Tags, Filters

May I clarify my remarks about Evernote? I wasn't suggesting for a moment that Petko should use EN as a model for MyInfo; I was merely reflecting on why EN is so phenomenally popular, and its connectivity across platforms was the only explanation I could offer. I was a very heavy user of the old Win...

Re: Tags, Filters

Fred, I admire your enthusiasm, and I agree that MyInfo ought to be much more widely known and used. Having tried out most of the major note-taking programs at one time or another, I can testify that MI is one of the very best -- yet it seems barely visible most of the time. I'm not sure why that is...

Re: search results

I'm not against your solution or any others if it's possible for Petko to incorporate more than one way to do it. I just don't want you to talk him out of the "next" and "previous" buttons!

Re: search results

Fred, your suggestion is ingenious, but I am unconvinced. You are treating this at a high theoretical level (e.g. worrying about mixing categories of search), whereas I see it as a small practical problem. Petko's proposed next and previous buttons would allow me to move effortlessly through the hit...

about MyInfo Roadmap (5 and beyond)

Petko, I stumbled upon your revised post by accident recently. Since you have a number of new and important items in your list of proposed features, wouldn't it be better to change the date of the post? As it is, until I actually read the message, I had the impression (from the date) that it was jus...

global search and replace

Petko, I can't recall whether this has been discussed in this forum already, but is there any chance that some future version of MyInfo will allow us to do a search-and-replace across an entire topic (or perhaps across multiple topics)? The present limitation to a single document doesn't make much s...

zoom and tiling

I think both of these subjects have been raised earlier (by myself and others), but, for whatever it's worth, here are the two missing features in MyInfo that I need most badly: (1) The ability to zoom the text of notes. I use MyInfo on several computers and screens, and I find it's impossible to es...

Re: Recommendation: web sync alternative

A belated postscript on this subject. I've finally found a relatively painless way of getting a set of MyInfo notes (read-only, of course) onto my iPhone with decent formatting. I mentioned a long time ago that I had tried using Stanza, the e-reader, but it stripped out italics and bold. So here is ...

problem with hyphens

When I search for a hyphenated word such as "book-plates," I receive the message "Please write at least one term" -- and this happens even when I place the word in quotation marks. I think I understand what is happening: MyInfo is interpreting this as an attempt to exclude "...

Drop-down lists of tags

I'm not convinced that the new drop-down lists of tags are an improvement. With the old style of drop-down lists, I could move down into the list with the tab key. Now I have to lift my fingers from the keyboard and move into the list with my mouse. Or is there some other way of moving the cursor in...

calendar tab

Petko, the new calendar tab (at least I think it's new, or has it been there all along?) has interesting possibilities, but in trying it out, I immediately ran into a problem. Because I use MyInfo primarily as a note-taker for historical research, many of my documents have a date assigned to them in...

Well, I find some small ray of hope in the phrase "in the beginning." I trust that your ultimate goal is to make all windows editable.

Petko, this is good news -- mostly. The read-only proviso is a bit unsettling. Does this mean all open documents will be read-only ? or just the second, third, fourth, etc.? Not being able to edit the other documents will certainly reduce the usefulness of this feature, but at this point I suppose I...

Daly, let me quote something you yourself said recently on the Outliner Software forum: It was through Ariadne I first realized how important it is for researchers and writers to have multiple windows open to compare and contrast and formulate new ideas. Unfortunately, the developers of programs whi...
