Creating Forms and Templates

Post by Archivist »

Can anyone share straightforward instructions for how to set things up so that I can, in one step, generate a new note that has a set of attributes at the top.

I can navigate to the templates folder, but can't figure out how to create a new note type there, or set it up.

I know forms exist, but have no idea how to make them or how to connect them to templates.

What I'd like to be able to do is right click in the notes section, create a new note of <custom type x>, then get a specific note with the list of custom attributes at the top like the task notes.

"However, in most cases, you will want to set the form in a note template. That way, each note based on this template will use the specified form." - I don't know how to do that or even make a new template.

Thanks, I've added a paragraph about setting the Forms attribute for the note template:

You can make a new form in Tools > Forms with your desired attributes. Assign this form to a template (File > Templates) for one-step creation with those attributes. Alternatively, use the form directly when creating new notes. Retro Bowl College

1. View > Attributes > Create Your Attributes
2. Tools > Forms > New > Give Form a Name > Add Attributes to Form
3. View > Panes > Attributes Pane
4. View > Templates > Ctrl N is New Template From Note > In the Attributes Pane On The Right > Click on Forms field > Select Form
5. Exit Templates ( Arrow on the top orange bar near the right side )
6. Now when you create a new parent or child note you should see the new form as a template note
