I tend to clear out the trash on a daily basis then I run a "Compact Notebook", please consider adding "Compact Notebook" when right clicking on a section and viewing the Section context menu. See attachment for an illustration.
Thank you in advance for the consideration...J

I don't really see the point for a daily compact notebook routine.
Tools -> Options -> Save & Backup has an auto-compact feature. I must admit, no idea if it actually works.
1. I set 'when it saves more' to 3 MB
2. Deleted a webclip (5 mb) to trash
3. Emptied trash; View -> Trash -> Empty Trash.
4. Tools -> Compact Notebook -> 10 MB saved according to dialog (didn't verify it on disk). Which I more or less expected to be done by auto-compact already. The difference between the size attribute (5MB) and the compact resulting in even more disk space is a bit curious too.

About the deleting trash routine.
Would it be helpful to control the number of days before deletion. Say 2, instead of 30. Maybe even 0 for disabled. Or do you prefer manual control for deleting trash

Generally when I delete an item I run the compact ( My OCD kicking in ), not a big deal just a cosmetic enhancement.
