Petko, is it possible in next version to be able to sort on the basis of state images -- in others words, use of the images would provide a way of sorting all ideas, all tasks, all contacts, etc.?Petko wrote:State images are only cosmetic, but you can filter for documents with "reminder" state image too get a list of all reminders.
Ariadne and a couple of other programs have allowed for a sort based on the icon -- it is handy, simple and fast to use.
Thanks for considering this.

Daly, this is possible currently too! To do it, use the Tools > Sort command and select (state images) in the Sort By column.Daly de Gagne wrote:Petko, is it possible in next version to be able to sort on the basis of state images -- in others words, use of the images would provide a way of sorting all ideas, all tasks, all contacts, etc.?
We can improve this by adding Sort by State Images command in the column context menu for the next version.

I guess what I am thinking about is more of a filter process that would say, let me pull out all the to do items, or all the blue flag items, or all the contacts from wherever they are in the tree so I could see the items with a particular icon all together. Then I could toggle back to the tree as a whole with everything in its original place. I think some progrms call this GREP --at least that's what it was called in Ariadne.
In essence, each icon in Ariadne cold be used as a predefinend search.
I hope I am making sense.
Thanks.

I would also love to be able to see the State Icons in filter mode, and to
filter by State Icon.
Setting State icons is much faster and more visual than creating tags.
I mostly want to filter and group on Task, so I end up with a quick to do list in different areas. This may be what the Active Task filter is supposed to do, but it doesn't work for me since I don't set due dates on many tasks.
The predefined filters Active Tasks and All Tasks appear to do the same thing.

Speaking of sorting, it would be helpful to be able to automatically sort a selected tag (like a filter). Is that possible now?
Sorry for the thread necromancy - but I'm confused by this functionality. I changed some of the states and gave them custom icons.. But they don't seem to be sorting by the order specified in the state editor. Is there some hidden value they're sorting by? If so, I'm not sure that sort is as useful as it could be. I made several states to represent a few tiers of document, but they don't sort consistently because the icons don't seem to be sorting as they appear in the customizer.Petko wrote: ↑Sun Feb 11, 2007 9:16 amDaly, this is possible currently too! Am I missing something?
Edit: I think I may have figured it out. The "customizer" is just a quick-reference. It doesn't actually have any bearing on the sorting of the images. Okay. That makes sense.
Is there any way to do this though? Can I change the underlying numbers somehow? I'm trying to build a custom sort with them. "Do folder icons first, then group icon, then individual icon" etc.
Or is there another good way to do this sort of heirarchical sort?
