full screen view?

Post by patnpm »

I've just got a UMPC and think it's fabulous. However, screen real estate is at a premium, and editing documents can be a little fiddly.

It's never going to be top of your list of things to do - but the abillity to enter / edit text with some kind of full screen view would be a definite improvement. Even temporarily turning off the tree view would give a whole lot more space.

You can temporary hide the tree using the Shift+Ctrl+E shortcut and show the tree using the Shift+Ctrl+R shortcut.

The full screen would be a useful addition to MyInfo, but it is not in our immediate plans for version 4.

that's great - it'll keep me going for the time being... (although the hide tree function would have been a good toolbar / menu item rather than just a keyboard shortcut)

I have no real intention of upgrading to Vista for the time-being -presumably the new version will still work on XP?

Yes, it will work on Windows XP. If we drop some OS support, this will be Windows 98 and Windows Me, but we will do so, only if this will bring any major benefit for most MyInfo users. At this time, MyInfo 4 is planned to work on Windws Vista/XP/2003 Server/2000/Me/98

Ok - I've been using ctrl shift ERand T for a few days - a couple of observations

1) It certainly helps the 'uncluttered screen' look which at least I like. I've looked in the past at mindmanager, evernote etc and there are frankly far too many buttons and windows in all of them.

2) There really needs to be a menu option to switch between the 3 views

3) I seem to be stuck in one of my topics now without the ability to go back into the multiview - tree AND text view - CTRL e gives me the text editor, CTRL T the tree view and CTRL R sometimes the other view - but not the mixed view. This happened to me a couple of days ago and I finally got out of it - don't know how - but I'm stuck again in one of the topics. I think it may be because I closed a topic whilst in the limited view. I've tried opening and closing the program to no avail, opening and closing the topic, and performing searches in the topic. .

4) Double clicking on a document, whilst in tree view should really bring up that document in the editor view.

Sorry for the long post, but it seems to me there should either be keyboard shortcuts AND a menu option to switch the views, or neither.

Ah I've worked it out! The other window hasn't disappeared - its merely shrunk to nothing - so I can drage the divider bar back and now have both windows back again.

Panic over.
