Creating Templates

Post by jamal »

A Happy New Year to all at Milenix...

A quick question about templates..

I've created a document template, and it is working nicely.

To create a topic template, [the Help info says] create a new topic and insert the information you want it to contain.

My question is: then what?

If I need to manually copy the topic file into the templates folder as described under "Adding Templates," I think it would be helpful to add a pointer to that fact in the Help info above.

An even better suggestion would be to make the steps needed to create a topic template consistent with that for creating a document template. That is, I can create a document template by using the Save As Template dialogue when editing the document. Why not provide a File > Save As .. Template dialogue for topics as well?

Happy New Year to everyone!

Jamal, you are right. You should add the template as described under"Adding Templates" in the help file. We will correct that in the next release.

Thanks Petko..

Is there any downside to adding a File -> Save As Template option for topics?

I think that we have found a simple way to do that without adding new commands to the menus. We will just add a templates folder shortcut to My Topics folder, so you can easy jump to the templates folder when you open/save topics.

See the image for what it will look like:

That's a good idea.. Definitely a better implementation compared to the current situation in which the user must go outside MyInfo (into Windows Explorer) in order to complete a MyInfo function.
