I am a very new user, so I may have missed something obvious but . . .
I am trying to import from a .CSV file, created in another application - I am running MyInfo Pro v4.23 under Windows XP. All of the following issues occur during this.
1. My import .CSV file inclues a currency field: Cover Price. In MyInfo I created an attribute named, Cover Price, with Type of number and Format of currency. I mapped Cover Price in my import file to the attribure Cover Price - who saw that coming? Importing from my .CSV went fine except no data came into the Cover Price (MyInfo) attribute on any of my records (documents). Changing the "type" to text worked with the "$". Changing the "type" to number and "format" to fractional worked, but only if all the "$" were removed from the import file (e.g., $14.95 changed into 14.95 before importing). Why?
2. Since I was importing a number, I wanted the "Alignment" to be on the right ("View/Attributes.../Attributes/Format"), but this didn't seem to work with either "text" or "number".
3. I did not have time to nail down the following problem, but this process flow seems to duplicate it most times. Select "View/Attributes..." from the main menu. The "Attributes" dialog is displayed. Select an attribute that you have created and click on the "Format" button. The "Format Attribute" dialog is displayed over the "Attributes" box. Change something in this dialog (here is where I suspect the exact change matters). Click on OK and both dialogs disappear (this is essential to the problem). The "Attributes" dialog has slipped (I don't know if it actually "slips" or what.) behind the main screen. If you don't know what has happened, it seems as if MyInfo has frozen solid. You just need to bring the dialog to the foreground and click OK. (I found this problem while trying to find the boundaries of problem #1. Maybe just importing or dealing with a new attribute or whatever had some effect.)
4. Also trying to change the location of a new attribute in the list, this relates to #3, caused some random, peculiar problems. Sometimes a MyInfo attribute would appear twice in the "Attributes" dialog, sometimes the format of the attribute would be change to text. I know that this isn't much to go on, but perhaps someone else has seen this?
5. After importing from a .CSV file, some of the titles of the new documents appear in bold and some don't. This appears harmless but, "what is going on?".
Hope that this is clear.
Thanks for any comments,
Philip
Problem importing currency from .CVS
Petko -
I have nailed down a repeatable process to recreate problems #3 and #4 from my post "Problem importing currency from .CSV". It seems likely to me that #2 may well be related.
I found it difficult to nail down the flow of events to repeat these, so on the first try, follow these steps closely.
Select File/Organize Topics/New to create a new topic, which I named "Test topic". I don't belive that it is necessary to be in a new or empty topic, but "This works".
Click OK/DONE to get back to the main screen with the new document "New Document" in "Test topic" selected.
Select View/Attributes to bring up the Attributes dialog. The top two attributes have check-marks.
Left click on the second attribute - "Comment Preview". Left click on "New" and enter a name - such as "test attribute". Leave all other fields with their defaults. Click on OK to return to the Attributes dialog.
Move "test attribute" up one position using the "Move Up" button. It is now between "Documents" and "Comment Preview". Left click on the format button. Instead of bringing up the Format dialog, the name changes from "Test attribute" to "Comment Preview". . . Now there are two with that name. This ends Bug #4.
Proceeding from where you were at the end of the previous step, close and reopen the Attributes dialog. The name of the new attribute has corrected itself. Leave it selected. Left click on the format button.
Change nothing. Left click on OK (inside the format dialog).
Both dialogs disappear (format dialog and attributes dialog), and MyInfo appears to be frozen. End of Bug #3.
Actually the "Format" dialog has closed and the Attributes dialog is hidden behind (I think) the main application screen. Use Ctrl + Tab to bring the Attributes dialog back to the fore. Click OK and MyInfo is back to normal.
These seem to me to be annoying but limited to the UI. They may have an effect on a new user or someone inexperienced with software, however.
Thanks,
Phil

Problems 1, 3, and 4 will be fixed in the next service release.
I am unable to reproduce 2. Setting Alignment for columns of type text and number works for me. Could you give more details?
I am also unable to reproduce 5. The only tree appearance that should be changed when importing from a CSV file is for empty/non-empty document.

Issues #2 and #5 are caused by UBD (User Brain Damage). I apologize for wasting your time.
On another note, are you still looking for suggestions for future enhancements? or is it too late?
Again, my apologies.
