I'd like to point to specific pages/images in .pdf files from myinfo - the link is calling up quite a large document. It seems that from html aref commands you can call up specific pages by adding #page=page number but this doesn't work in the hyperlinks in myinfo.
Is this feasible? I would understand if it was too much hassle to sort out - but it would make referring to pdf files a lot more useful
[added in mi3.55] link to specific pages in pdf files
Your best bet is to use the Extract Files... command under the Document menu in Adobe Acrobat. Select the Extract Pages As Separate Files option and be sure to edit the To: field with the last page of the document.
Extract the pages to a folder, and then you can add hyperlinks to your MyInfo documents that point to each page.
Another option that allows you to view the PDF page in the Notes section is to extract the pages as indicated above, and then use the Insert>Object command in MyInfo to insert the page image into the document Notes section.
I have to reference several PDF books and I've found this a much more desirable option to the cumbersome process of viewing PDFs as hyperlinks or embedded files.
Sorry if I deluged you with more info than you needed, but I hope this helps!
Cheers,
Mike

I could not find Extract Files... in Adobe Reader 7.0. Is it a feature present only in Adobe Acrobat ?
In any case I would like to second the original request of supporting links to pages within pdf. We have to work with standards that are well over 300 pages. If you support this, I will be MyInfo's official evangelist in my office!!

We researched this topic and it turns out that with a slight adjustment in the current MyInfo version, it will be possible to link to a specific Adobe Acrobat page and much more (searching, zooming and so on). Adobe offer a list with all parameters that you can pass to Acrobat (Reader) when opening a PDF file.
You can find them here:
http://partners.adobe.com/public/develo ... meters.pdf
In the next version of MyInfo, you will be able to link to a specific page by typing the following in the Hyperlink dialog:
where X is the page you want to link to (i.e. page=34=OpenActions), and FULL_PDF_PATH is the path and the name of the PDF file you want to open ("D:\My Documents\19070.pdf"). Please note, that when an option or the PDF full name contains a blank character, the option/name should be in double-quotes ("").
Example:
This will work with MyInfo 3.55, which will be available soon.
You can find them here:

In the next version of MyInfo, you will be able to link to a specific page by typing the following in the Hyperlink dialog:
Code: Select all
/A page=X=OpenActions "FULL_PDF_PATH"
Example:
Code: Select all
/A page=2=OpenActions "D:\My Documents\19070.pdf"
Thanks for the quick turn around in supporting this.
Note for folks using URL syntax (in document title):
With the latest version of Adobe Reader ( 7.0.8 ), there is an issue where URL links to pages will not work. http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx/.3bc0a28f.
