Encryption with Portable Version

AES256 Strong encryption is a welcome feature in version 4. It complements the portable version for installing MyInfo on a USB stick without worries. I am assuming that both the content and the index are encrypted using strong encryption, and if the USB stick is lost, any encrypted topics, if protected by a long enough password, cannot be practically cracked.

It would be nice to make the default behavior for an encrypted topic to hide itself at initial start up. Currently the default behavior is that the [encrypted] topic will try to show itself up and prompt for a password.

Jamal, you are right - both contents and index are encrypted. The option you propose will be considered for the next versions.

Thank you Petko. I'll be looking forward to that option in the coming versions. Until then, to ensure that an encrypted topic won't show up at the start up, one can explicitly close the topic before exiting MyInfo.

Petko, this has not yet been addressed.

More specifically, if an encrypted topic was not explicitely closed in the previous session, it automatically comes up and prompts for password at start-up next time. It would be more appropriate to turn-off this behavior for encrypted topics so that they remain hidden until the user brings it up manually and logs in.

The option will be included in the next release.

Petko, thanks for implementing this option in version 4.25.

In version 4.25 an option is available under Tools -> Options -> Startup to "skip password protected topics at startup." If you are saying that the default behavior should be "skip & hide" to begin with, I do agree with you philosophically.. but the option works and does the job once you turn it on.
