Rebuild index missing in menu

I have MyInfo 5.02 installed on two Windows XP computers (work & home). On one of these computers I see the menu entry Tools > Rebuild index, but on the other computer this entry is simply not there in the Tools menu.

This is not a life-threatening situation of course, but I'm curious... what may be causing this feature to not appear in the menu?

Search seems to be working fine on both computers. It's just the Rebuild index that's missing on one of them.

You can try:

To restore original buttons and settings of the menu or of a toolbar:

Select the View > Toolbars > Customize command.

The Customize dialog will appear.

Select the toolbar you want to restore and click Reset. (in your case I think you would select "Main Menu"

The Reset confirmation dialog will appear. Click OK to confirm that you want to reset the toolbar.

Click the Close button to close the Customize dialog.

Hi Ralph,

Thanks for your tip!

I happen to be at the computer which had Rebuild Index in the menu, and when I reset the main menu, "Rebuild Index" disappears.

So it seems the factory setting is to not show Rebuild Index, but by customizing the menu I can make it reappear. I'm not sure if this is a bug or a feature :?

Since we have rewritten the indexing engine for MyInfo 5, you no longer need to use Rebuild Index, because the index is always up-to-date. This is the reason this command is hidden in MyInfo 5.
