What is the status of version 5.05? I haven't received any notification of availability, but the current download is pointing to this version. Has it been announced for general availability or is it in beta?

jamal, it is out of beta and we've sent notification email to our customers. It seems that you have somehow missed it. You can use the old link to download it - it really points to the final 5.05 version.
