I have several topics open across the page. The currently selected topic is a very subtle difference over the other topics. I would like to make it more dramatic. For example, a yellow background. Or a Bold font, etc.

Can this be changed?

We are still considering our options.

Making it bold is not good, because it will dynamically change the width of the tabs, making it yellow (or any other particular color) will interfere with the available topic colors and will defeat the purpose of color coding, so it is too out of question.

Currently, the easiest way will be to change the active tab font and border color from dark gray to black. Do you think this will be enough?

I would prefer to be able to color the tab if you give this as an option. This would be more useful to me than color coding all the tabs.

But anything you can do will be good.
