incremental search does not work all the time starting with 6.03

In my treepane, I have
* document name, Tags, Tags Preview

I toggle back and forth using F8.
1/3 of the time when I go back to the tree, the whole line is highlighted.
Now, when I enter "a" to find the first document starting with "a",
it does not locate "apple" (example)

However, it starts doing the incremental search on the tag preview,
which I don't want.
I prefer the prior version where incremental search was done on the document
name only.

Please advise,

Probably, we will bring back the old behavior in the next version.
