I have no problems to use the desktop version.
However, when I install and use the portable version, I can insert a note, but then can't edit the content in the editor.

I have the same version. I am also using the portable version. I don't have that problem. I created a note and was to edit it with no issue. I have no idea why you can't edit the note. You did not happen to lock the note by mistake so it was read only?

Thanks for the clarification. You are right - my installation of the portable version seem to lock the notes by default.
I unlocked the notes, and everything works now.

Great! Glad it worked. Unfortunately we all do things that we don't realize that we did something. I am in the coputer support field. It happens quite often.
