Copy and Paste into Focused Item

Post by noone22 »

Please consider pasting an item into the focused folder and a sub-item

Copy an item to the clipboard
Click on the folder to paste the item as a sub-item
Ctrl V
It pastes the item at the parent level instead of the focused item

I'm personally dislike paste into focused item as general default.

I personally would opt for:
A) Additional item in the right click context menu: paste as child. Analog "Child Note" entry + shortcut

and/or

B) The behaviour being limited to specific scope, by say introducing a Folder Template: where pasting onto the folder equals pasting into the folder

Addition to point B
You can currently imitate a folder, by creating a additional note template and adding a folder icon. However it's not a true folder:

1) Folder template isn't a note by itself. So Text Editor should be turned off, IMHO.
2) Conditional formatting will make the font of a folder grayish by default, because the editor being empty. And well you need to modify the rules to do not do this

Some additional possible benefits
* expand/ collapse tree to folder level (probably creating nice outline under certain workflows)
* Another advantage would be that 'Export Files and Folders" could export child notes in to folder (without creating an entry for the parent itself as note)

Paste as a sub-item would be good as well. Also an option in the settings to let the user choose which default setting they would prefer.
