How can you search between dates, I tried the following and it always shows null

I want to search from September 1 through September 30

completed:2024-09-30 -completed:2024-09-01
updated:2024-09-30 -updated:2024-09-01
due:2024-09-30 -due:2024-09-01

Whenever I try with a leading - the command fails
due:2024-09-30 < works
-due:2024-09-01 < does not work
