[fixed] MI 7.1 Search error. Won't do search.
Hi, Installed the 7.1 update but can't do a search.
I get the attached error whenever I do any search from Search Bar. Tried changing options (This Section, Notebook, etc) but still get error every time. Also tried it on the portable version and did the same thing.
Thanks,
Larry

Larry, I can't reproduce this so far. Does it depend on the search term used? Can you try reinstalling with your antivirus disabled?
Installing update on Laptop to see if I get same error there.
Yes, same error on laptop. I'm only doing basic search. One word. I've tried changing search options to "This Section", This Norebook" etc but still get the same error. Tried different words also.
Tried disabling virus protection but still getting error.
Thanks,
Larry

Can you try this too: using any of the Tools > Recent Edits commands? Does it produce the same error?
Yes, on all of them.
No issue here..
Maybe something went wrong with the database upgrade?

Larry, can you create a new notebook and see if it will work there? (with This Notebook option)
I'm getting exact same error on any or all databases using any search string. Global search is broken completely. Creating new DB and searching 'this notebook' produces same error.
Yes, getting same error with new notebook. I only use a few startup programs. Will try to disable them and see if they're conflicting with MI7.
Petko,
Could I have a link to the new 7.1 download file. The last one I received points to 7.09.
I want to try uninstalling completely and re-installing.
Thanks,
Larry

Can you also check your About dialog. Does it say MyInfoCore 1.1.0+6985 or 1.1.0+6987?
Tried disabling my Password Manager and a few other things. I even paused my sync programs but still getting the error.
Will try the full uninstall/reinstall next.

I am able to reproduce it now. It happens if the Search toolbar is visible when MyInfo is started and a search is performed there (instead in the Global Search pane).
Ok, I downloaded the files direct (thanks for my links).
Here are the results -
Install version-
1) Uninstalled fully MyInfo 7. I use an uninstall program that removes the remaining bits that some software leaves.
2) Installed MyInfo 7.1 from downloaded file.
3) Ran MyInfo 7.1 and unfortunately had the same error while trying to search. I looked at the "About" and it showed +6987.
4) Uninstalled again.
5) Went into "User" directories and deleted all the MyInfo 7 directories in those. This also got rid of all my settings so NOT recommended to anyone else. I don't mind reconfiguring it though so I decided to do that.
6) Reinstalled MyInfo 7.1 from download file.
It runs fine now and I don't get the search error.
Portable Version -
If I just installed into the directory with the new 7.1 file I got the search error.
If I deleted everything in that portable directory and reinstalled then it works fine with the new version.
Again this deletes all the settings so not recommended. I wanted a fresh start anyway which is why I did that.
Edit: So all that didn't work, running into error again. Will wait to get your fix since you were able to reproduce it.
