Website search

Post by wsp »

Petko, I noticed that there have been several improvements in the Website generator (for which I am grateful), but there is one missing feature that would be terribly important to me (and I assume to others) -- a site search box. How difficult would it be to add that capability to MyInfo? With a large MyInfo-created site (which in most cases will include a substantial number of individual HTML documents), it seems almost essential. (A simple control-f won't do the trick, as it would for a single document.)

I'm aware that there are a lot of site search services available, but they all seem to require either a stiff annual fee or some intrusive advertising.

We will consider it for the future releases. The problem with the search is that it requires either some server side script (cgi/php/etc.) or Java installed on the client computer. Maybe we will include optional search script, so if you don't have php-enabled hosting, it will not add search capabilities to the exported web site..

Thanks, Petko, for the encouraging news. In the meantime, I will continue to explore other possible solutions. I suspect that the tech people at my university may have some useful suggestions.
