Website claim misleading or false advertising

Post by Dan »

The "MyInfo Features" page claims that MyInfo can "filter documents IN THE TREE". This is false. Please remove this claim and replace it with clear statements that it does NOT filter while in the tree view.
Filter Documents [Improved]
You can filter documents in the tree on their attribute values and other information. Clicking on a document tag will show you all documents with the same tag in the tree.
Unfortunately, MyInfo has a major limitation in that it does NOT filter documents while IN THE TREE VIEW. Instead, filter results are displayed only in a separate "list/filter" view, the purpose of which is to strip out the tree/outline structure.

Filtering while in the treee view is a NATURAL EXPECTATION for an outliner, and has been a product request for 2 years or more. It is a top request in the uservoice poll. (If I recall correctly, before I purchased the product, it was a feature in earlier versions but was removed.)

TO PETCO:

(1) When will you correct the misleading product claim?

(2) Please state your intentions whether or not you will add/return this feature. MyInfo Pro is useless to me without it.

TO MYINFO USERS -- DO YOU NEED THIS FEATURE?

[*]Don't you, like me, need to be able to view FILTERED rows WHILE STILL IN THE OUTLINE VIEW? (To me, MyInfo is useless without it.)
[*]Rows that do not match the criteria would be hidden, with the EXCEPTION of the minimal "Parent" and "grandparent" rows necessary to trace a matching row to the outline root.
[*]This allows the all-important outline logic to be preserved while you view the filtered items!
[*]Also and just as important: The TREE VIEW WOULD BE FULLY FUNCTIONAL when rows are filtered: The same columns are shown and fields are just as editable. (The "parents" that do not meet the filter but are displayed only to show the outline structure --do not need to be editable. In fact, they should be grayed out or otherwise distinguished.)

Thank you.

Dan, we have no intention to make false advertising. The idea behind this paragraph is that you simply can filter the documents, without specifying where you see the results of this filtering. But as you say so, we will change the wording to be clear that you see the results in the Filter pane.

As for filtering documents directly in the tree, this is in our todo plans. It just requires more programming effort and this is why, it will take more time to do it. I can't give any specific timeframe yet, I am afraid.
