[fixed in 6.04] Search term including colon not working in..

Post by mfelix »

The more I'm working with it, the more problems I encounter in version 6.03.
This one is really severe for me so please Petko comment on how to proceed.

I mark text passages with short text strings like "MFR:" (without the quotes).
To retrieve the passages a simple search for "MFR:" will bring them up.
With v6.03 this search will also retrieve all passages of "MFR", i.e. without the colon.
This poses a unique problem for me, because when a passage has lost interest for me I remove the colon to document this. a Search without the colon will the retrieve these passages.
Worse still I use this technique in a custom column when I want to flag a whole document in this way.

Currently most of my databases are unusable for me because MyInfo retrieves all the flagged passages and all the flagged documents !!!

I think I found what causes the problem: you can now search in a field using the syntax "field:search term".
This obviously comes into conflict with my "MFR:" markers.
I've changed the markers to "MFR[" but to no avail. It seems as if MyInfo discards my [ character and any other character that are not letters or numbers and searches for "MFR" only.

There are other things not working in this context as I had to notice:

- the search term is not highlighted when I use the "field:search term" notation
- the search termin ist not displayed correctly in search result window

Urgent help is needed !

using "MFR#" is working, but only from the search window, not when I use a filter :(

What filter do you want to use with it? I think this will be easy to fix.

I am currently working on this problem, but so far I can't reproduce it. If I write "MFR#" in the document text, then I am able to find it with both search and filter.

I guess I am doing something different than you, but I am wondering what it could be?

Well it works for me as well from the search box when I enter MFR#.

Using it in a filter with (text) contains MFR# I get all the documents in my topic.
Does it show you only the one document that contains MFR# ?

That is definitely a bug and will be fixed soon.

I've tested with a topic with single document and it found it, but now when I test it with empty documents, it finds them too and it shouldn't.
